Welcome to our Journey

What began as a One-Night-Only tribute to Gil Scott-Heron for Black History Month last year in 2023 has taken on a life force of its own with sold out houses and audiences demanding more performances.   Gil Scott-Heron's timeless and classic works resonate just as strongly today as it did during the revolutionary days of the Black Arts Celebration movement. Heron's music reflects the turbulence, uncertainty and increasing pessimism of the times. Gil Scott-Heron masterfully employed a satirical edge, drawing on the oral tradition of poetic storytelling and music to enlighten the masses.

Gil Scott Heron Bluesology is produced by and features the icon's daughter Gia Scott-Heron and seven dynamic wordsmiths and musicians hailing from the historical Leimert Park Village in Los Angeles, California.  Creator & Executive Producer Tuesday Conner, Lorenzo Frank, Conney Williams, Yawo Watts, Art.Us Mansoir and The Oracle are spitting' fire and blazin' stages under the direction of Lynne Conner, International Award Winning Filmmaker.

How you can help?

There has been a great demand by educators to bring this impactful show to the schools. Unfortunately, a lack of funding for the arts in the classroom has presented a barrier to fulfilling this demand. We are therefore requesting your assistance to help fund this program. Your generous contributions will go directly toward underwriting the cost of touring this presentation to schools and providing students with writing workshops and opportunities to perform and sell their art/heart.

Support from businesses and individuals is critical to help our artists keep telling honest stories about our culture and offering the youth a safe space to grow and express their own cultural truths. The need is great and we would be more than grateful for your support of "Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology."  No amount is too small or large.  In appreciation of your generous support and contributions, you and/or representatives of your organization are encouraged to attend the upcoming festival so we can recognize you and thank you personally for your effort.
