About the event

Accompanied with percussions and later by pianist Dee-Dee McNeil. The Watts Prophets style of performing laid between street talking and a revolutionary sermon.  Watts Prophets were the foundation for West Coast hip-hop.

Poets Jazz House pays tribute to legends past and present on Tuesday nights with a stellar cast of spoken word artists painting a poetic picture of life through the eyes of Civil Rights Activist, Poet, Icon and founding member of the Watts Prophets and legend Amde Hamilton.

Poets Jazz House is a Spoken Word & Music Lounge where spilling your heart is an art and searching your soul is mandatory to get in the door. Located in a quaint little Playhouse in the park we're bringing you Poetry After Dark.

The ensemble cast includes: Young Poets of Los Angeles: Andre W. Collins, Journey, Sariya, Serenity L. Smith, Aamir Bascomb & Kylee Brooks  Seasoned Poets include Yawo Watts, Art.us Mansoir, Lorenzo Frank, Gia Scott-Heron, Tuesday & Lynne Conner the ORACLE
